How about swapping handmade valentines? I was thinking it sure would be fun to receive a few. I don’t know about you, but hand written correspondence and cards received in the mail are few and far between. I think getting valentines, especially handmade ones, would be just wonderful!

Here’s how it will work:

  • You will be assigned three partners that you will make and send a handmade Valentine’s Day card.
  • Partners will be assigned randomly. A partner assigned to you may or may not be assigned you.
  • Valentines are to be handmade using any crafting method and materials you prefer. Get creative!
  • Only a handmade card is to be sent to each partner. No extras! I want to keep this simple, fair and inexpensive. Too many swaps these days are turning into who can mail the bigger package of goodies. I want to stay away from that. Put your time and effort into crafting the cards.
  • Postage costs will be kept down because only cards will be mailed, so participants must be open to the possibility of being assigned an international partner. Since it’s not merchandise, no customs forms will be required.
  • Mailing dates are February 7th for domestic and January 31st for international.
  • Don’t send your valentines too far in advance of Valentine’s Day. Please try to mail close to the holiday.
  • Share your handmade valentine creations in the Flickr group I’ve created for the swap.
  • Use the hashtag #bemyvalentineswap on social media, such as Instagram.

Do you want to participate? I sure hope you do!  If so, hop on over to the sign up form. I’ll keep registration open for a week or so. I’ll see how things go. Then I’ll get assignments out mid December.

Please be sure to invite friends and spread the word. The more, the merrier!
